In Nigeria, US stocks open at 2:30pm and close at 9pm WAT. That holds until Fri 30 October 2026.
From Mon 2 November 2026: 3:30pm to 10pm WAT, because the clocks change.
The New York Stock Exchange's regular session, 09:30–16:00 New York time, runs 2:30pm to 9pm WAT in Nigeria until 30 October 2026, according to TradingLookup's Market Clock (October 2026).

Daylight saving: why the US time moves in Nigeria
- New York's clocks go back an hour on Sunday 1 November 2026.
- New York's clocks go forward an hour on Sunday 14 March 2027.
- Nigeria doesn't change its clocks, so only New York's change moves the times: the US session starts an hour later in WAT from Monday 2 November 2026.

US market hours and your working day in Nigeria
On an 08:00–17:00 WAT working day (our convention, not a rule), until 30 October the US session overlaps it from 14:30 to 17:00 (2 hours 30 minutes); from 2 November the US session overlaps it from 15:30 to 17:00 (1 hour 30 minutes).

Forex trades over the counter from Monday morning in Asia to Friday evening in New York, with no official sessions. We use each centre's 08:00–17:00 local business day as its "session" (a convention, not a rule).
