SEBI Charges Charged at ₹10 per crore

IPFT charges for NSE trades ₹0.10/lakh for Equity & Futures, ₹0.50/lakh on Equity Options premium From 1 March 2026 NSE cut IPFT to ₹0.01 per crore and raised the transaction charge to match ("no change in the overall outflow", NSE circular of 27 February 2026), so the exchange charge above already includes it and we don’t add it again.

GST 18% (on brokerage + transaction + demat charges + IPFT charges) 18% (on brokerage + transaction charges + IPFT charges) We apply GST to brokerage, exchange, SEBI and IPFT charges (Zerodha's page also lists SEBI charges in the GST base)

How it works

Limits. One plan per broker: the standard retail plan for resident individuals, after any first-30-days offer. We leave out account opening, AMC, MTF interest, pledge, auto square-off and call-and-trade fees, and rounding on the contract note. Charges change; check the date and the broker's page before you trade.

Measured and judged. Every rate is measured (the broker's or exchange's published figure, dated and linked). Every total is judged: our arithmetic on your numbers. Not investment advice.

Questions

Is equity delivery free?

At Dhan, Zerodha, delivery brokerage is ₹0 on their own page. STT, stamp duty, exchange charges and the DP charge on a sell still apply, so a delivery trade is never free.

What is the biggest charge on an options trade?

It depends on the size. On a flat ₹20-an-order plan such as Zerodha's, brokerage (₹40 a round trip, plus GST) is the biggest charge on a small trade. STT is 0.15% of the sell-side premium, so it passes brokerage once you sell more than ₹26,667 of premium in one trade (our arithmetic). NSE's charge is 0.03553% of the premium on both sides.

Why does my contract note differ by a few paise?

Brokers round some charges (often STT and stamp duty) to the rupee per contract note, and some add charges we don’t model, such as auto square-off or call-and-trade fees.
