What US PPI is and why it moves markets
The Producer Price Index, from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, measures the change over time in the selling prices that domestic producers receive for their output.
Producer prices can pass through to consumer prices, so traders read the PPI as an early signal for CPI inflation. We rate it medium impact.
