On Columbus Day 2027 (11 October 2027) the NYSE is open (normal hours) and the bond market status is not confirmed yet, according to TradingLookup's Market Clock (October 2026).

Why

Columbus Day is a federal holiday (also marked as Indigenous Peoples' Day in many states), but not a stock market holiday. OPM lists it as a federal holiday on Monday 11 October 2027, so banks and the post office close. It isn't on the NYSE's own holiday list, so stocks trade as normal. SIFMA, which sets the bond market's holiday schedule, hasn't been read for 2027 yet; in 2026 it recommended a full close.

Columbus Day falls on the second Monday of October, so it is always a three-day weekend for federal workers but a normal Monday for stock traders.

Does Columbus Day count as a trading day at your prop firm?

None of the quotes in our futures prop ledger (24 firms) say whether a market holiday or an early close counts towards a minimum-trading-days rule. Columbus Day is a normal session for US stocks, but futures can keep different hours, so check your firm's notice. What firms' own pages do say:

Check your firm's holiday notice before you trade or count the day. Every firm's published rules: US futures prop firms and prop firm news rules.
