On Veterans Day 2026 (11 November 2026) the NYSE is open (normal hours) and the US bond market is closed, according to TradingLookup's Market Clock (October 2026).

Why

Veterans Day is a federal holiday, but not a stock market holiday. OPM lists it as a federal holiday on Wednesday 11 November 2026, so banks and the post office close. It isn't on the NYSE's own holiday list, so stocks trade as normal. SIFMA, which sets the bond market's holiday schedule, recommends a full close.

Veterans Day is always 11 November, whichever weekday that is. It began as Armistice Day, marking the end of the First World War in 1918.

Does Veterans Day count as a trading day at your prop firm?

None of the quotes in our futures prop ledger (24 firms) say whether a market holiday or an early close counts towards a minimum-trading-days rule. Veterans Day is a normal session for US stocks, but futures can keep different hours, so check your firm's notice. What firms' own pages do say:

• Bulenox lists no minimum number of trading days on its evaluation plans: "Min. trading days None" (bulenox.com, read 16 October 2026)
• The Trading Pit (futures) counts profitable days towards payouts: "To request a reward, you must complete 5 profitable trading days with at least $150 profit per day, which do not need to be consecutive" (thetradingpit.com, read 16 October 2026)
• Alpha Futures counts profitable days towards payouts: "Request every 5 winning trading days of $200 profit, or more" (help.alpha-futures.com, read 16 October 2026)
• Elite Trader Funding says you can trade on holidays: "Q: Can I trade on holidays and during news? Yes" (elitetraderfunding.app, read 13 October 2026)
